About Rederij de Jordaan
We are Reinhard and Miloe, founders and skippers of Rederij De Jordaan in Amsterdam.
We have been navigating the Amsterdam canals for years. We started in 2000 with a 4-meter aluminum boat called the Lente. Later we bought a slightly larger one: a hundred-year-old iron fishing boat with a fish hold named Miloe.
In 2008, we got married on the large salon boat Het Wapen van Amsterdam.
Dreams Come True
Whenever we saw a salon boat sailing, we always said to each other: ‘When we retire, we’ll buy one like this too and leisurely cruise the canals with a whisky in hand.’ When we got the chance to start our own business last year, we thought: ‘We will make many people happy with beautiful tours through the Amsterdam canals.’
Egelantiersgracht Jordaan
We have lived in the Jordaan since 1998: first on Raamstraat, then Rozenstraat, and since 2013 at the most beautiful spot in the Jordaan, on the Egelantiersgracht, a few houses past café ’t Smalle.
On Rozenstraat, our eldest daughter Welmoed was born, and on Egelantiersgracht our second daughter Farahilde and our son Adriaan.
The salon boats of our company are named after our daughters. Welmoed, a classic salon cruiser from 1932, and Farahilde, a historic notary boat from 1908, one of the oldest, most beautiful, and smallest salon boats in Amsterdam.
