Classic Salon Boat Welmoed
Classic salon cruiser Welmoed (built in 1932) constructed at the famous shipyard J.O. v.d. Werff, Buitenstvallaat, near Drachten in Friesland. Welmoed’s first owner was the traveling doctor of the North, Mr. Hofmeester from Leeuwarden, who used this boat to visit patients. At the end of the 20th century, she came to Amsterdam.
In 2014, the current owners, Reinhard Spronk & Miloe van Bodegraven of Rederij De Jordaan, fully renovated the Welmoed; she is now entirely electric, with oak flooring, original granite countertops, built-in heating, and leather Spyker-car upholstery. The salon boat has a steel hull with a mahogany superstructure and an oak interior.

History and Craftsmanship
The Welmoed was built at the famous Van der Werff shipyard in Drachten in 1932. Dr. Hofmeester from Leeuwarden commissioned it and initially installed the doctor’s automobile engine, similar to the Kameleon. Soon after, an Albin engine was added, later replaced by a Volvo Penta 20 HP. In 2013, the Welmoed was purchased by Miloe van Bodegraven and Reinhard Spronk of Rederij De Jordaan and now features full electric propulsion. Since then, the boat has been carefully used for private cruises and intimate events.

Historic notary boat Welmoed served during the interwar period the traveling doctor from Leiden, who visited patients with it, later cruising in North Holland. From 2001 to 2013, the boat was fully restored by Jan Koens, artist and philosopher, at Scheepswerf Vooruit in Zaandam; then in 2013 purchased by Miloe van Bodegraven and Reinhard Spronk of Rederij De Jordaan. The current owners fell in love with one of the oldest, smallest, and most beautiful salon boats in Amsterdam.
