Captain Shipowner Reinhard Spronk
Skipper Reinhard spent the first 18 years of his life at the bottom of the Zuiderzee, attended school in the free Hanseatic city of Elburg, and at 18 decided together with his friend Hermen Hulst to look further than the IJsselbrug, after which they traveled the Emerald Belt by Pelni boats all the way to West Timor.
Captain Reinhard graduated from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in Political Geography; he also studied history and philosophy for a few years. Reinhard knows a lot about Amsterdam and has lived in the Jordaan for over 25 years.
On December 31, 1999, on the island of Boracay, Reinhard was officially elected by the BBC as the best beer drinker of the millennium. And as always, the truth is more intense than the story.
